Canines and Crosstreks - SPCA Adoptable Pet Profiles

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Emmy (American Pit Bull) & Angel (Short Coat Chihuahua)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring a pair of pups who are each pretty and petite - in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - American Pit Bull - Emmy -    ...

Emmy found herself in need of a new home after her family moved to a community where she wasn't welcome.  How rude!  Pit Bulls are so often unfairly the victims of breed discrimination .

But Emmy is a sweetheart who previously lived happily with children and other dogs in the past.  Everyone who meets Emmy falls in love instantly.  Maybe it's all the kisses she gives ;)

Emmy is small in stature but has a big heart.  She has a gorgeous brindle coat and would make a great addition to your family.

Next - meet Angel - a 9 year old short haired Chihuahua -

Angel's new to the shelter and still a little timid.  But the more time she spends with the staff - the more she is opening up

Angel would do best in a home with no other pets and no kids - as she does display some of the he complex characteristics of her breed, particularly when stressed ... so her new family would preferably have past experience with Chihuahuas

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Emmy or Angel, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Jax (American Pit Bull) & Bentley Girl (Long Coat Chihuahua)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring one big boy and one little pup - who both would love nothing more than to join your family, in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first one year old Pit Bull - Jax -  who's looking for a home ...

Jax's found himself homeless when his family had to move. He arrived with a bad skin infection, but has healed up well and working on growing back his handsome coat.

Jax has the sweetest brown eyes and adorable white nose. He will make a great family companion.

Next - meet Bentley Girl - a 9 year old long haired Chihuahua - a lovely little lady who loves being with her humans - but also is independent and will happily keep herself busy - she loves investigating her surroundings :)

Bentley Girl's ideal human would understand that she needs mental stimulation and that she isn't one that would enjoy being a purse dog!

Bentley Girl  came to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County with flea allergies and not much hair on about half of her body. It is growing back and she is looking more beautiful every day.  She is currently on renal-support prescription food and may need to stay on it for the rest of her life

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Bentley Girl or Jax, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Cody Boy (Alaskan Husky) & Ronin (Cocker Spaniel Mix)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring one big boy and one little pup - who both would love nothing more than to join your family, in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - Cody Boy -  who's getting a second feature on the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Cody Boy's a handsome purebred Alaskin Huskey with lucious chesnut and white coat ... it might make him a little warm in the summer - but the  SPCA of Anne Arundel County staff has learned he loves to cool off with watermelon and carrots ...

Cody Boy does shed a lot .. but a little grooming - which he loves - goes a long way . . . He is create trained - but can be a little defensive around food - so an adult only home would be best.

Next - meet Ronin - a 6 year old American Cocker Spaniel who is new to Annapolis

Ronin's used to a quiet life - so a house where he is the only pet  would be the situation for him.

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Cody Boy or Ronin, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Yum Yum (Terrier / Miniature Pinscher) and Cooper Calhoun (Hound Mix)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring two of the happiest pups you'll come across in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - Yum Yum - one of the sweetest most gentle pups to ever come through the  SPCA of Anne Arundel County-

Yum Yum's a 6 year old Terrier / Miniature Pinscher who is great with cats, dogs and most children.  She is obedient and attentive. And looooves her belly rubs.

Unfortunately - Yum Yum does need special food and to take medication daily for her urinary incontinence (which is controlled with the meds) but it is a small price to pay to have such a perfect addition to your home!

Up next is -  Cooper Calhoun- a 4.5 year old hound mix who has 2 special needs: lots of love and daily medication for his epilepsy (he doesn't seem to notice the pills when they are mixed in with some treats!

Cooper Calhoun's been described as one of the happiest dogs people have ever met! He loves playing ball, being with people, and getting loved on ... He does well with other dogs and kids as well!

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Yum Yum or Cooper Calhoun this week's Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Cody Boy (Alaskan Husky), Rocky (Foxhound), & Rollo (Retriever/Lab/Australian Shepherd)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring a trio of fellas, each as handsome as can be, in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - Cody Boy - a handsome 8 year old Alaskan Husky -

Cody Boy's thick coat may make him a little warm in the summer - but the  SPCA of Anne Arundel County has learned he loves to cool off with some watermelon ... He does shed a lot though .. but a little grooming - which he loves - is key . . . He is create trained - but can be a little defensive around food - so an adult only home would be best.

But if you are in search of a family dog -  Rocky is your guy!

Rocky's an 8 year old foxhound who's had a ruff couple of months.  He found himself homeless after his family moved and didn't tell him!

Rocky family friendly and you would never know he's 8 years old!  He is a loyal companion looking for a family to love!

Finally we have Rollo - who just like the candy - is sweet as can be! Rollo's a young retriever/lab/Australian Shepherd mix - just one year old - and full of love and energy.

We suggest adopting Rollo with Rocky - so your house can have the Rock(y) n Roll(o) experience :)

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Cody Boy, Rollo or Rocky, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring to pups that have lots of love to give in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - May - a 9 month old Beagle puppy who is cute as can be.

May's just arrived to the SPCA of Anne Arundel County ... She's a fun and playful pup looking for a loving family who will work with her on housebreaking and leash walking. She will be a fun dog to train.   Just look at this face.

Next up is Muffin - an adorable 10 year old shih tzu

Muffin - may be a senior but she is young at heart. poor thing is a little hard of hearing and partially blind - so she would best fit in a relaxing quit forever home

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Muffin or May, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Adora (Terrier/Pitbull Mix) & Loki Loc (Plott Hound Mix)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring to pups that have lots of love to give in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - Adora - a 7 year old Terrier / Pitbull mix.

Adora's just adorable with her floppy ears and sweet disposition .. Adora likes kids and other pups - but she's not a fan of cats

Next up is Loki Loc - just look at that face and try not to smile back at him!

Loki Loc is a 6 year old Plott/Hound Mix with a gorgeous brindle coat - and fun and spunky.  He loves to go for long walks and has good leash behavior. He loves toys and has the best disposition.  But he can become very bonded to his humans - so an experienced dog owner without kids is the best match for Mr. Loki Loc

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Adora or Loki Loc, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Hunter (Retriever / Lab Mix) & Rhett (Shepherd Mix)

This week the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is featuring to pups that have lots of love to give in the Annapolis Subaru Canines and Crosstrek Adoption report.

Up first - Hunter -  a 4 year old Retriever / Lab mix.  Yes, he's an XL boy but he also comes with an XL heart full of love!

Hunter is an excellent boy who loves being around other people ... but not so much other dogs - so a home where he is a single fur baby would be best.  He loves to play hard and relax hard too :)

Next up is Rhett - a little slimmer than Hunter - but with just as much love to give.

Rhett just turned 3 years old - and fun and spunky.  He loves to go for long walks and really likes getting treats.  So if you're looking for someone to accompany you on your outdoor adventures this summer - Rhett's your guy!

Just a reminder - the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in adopting Rhett or Hunter, this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Joy (Pug / Beagle Mix) & Duke (American Pitbull/Terrier Mix)

Summer is here and it's a great time to think about adopting a pet from the SPCA of Anne Arundel County  to join you in all your fun outdoor activities you have planned ... the shelter is able to have viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in meeting this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please reach out!

Up first - Joy -  a six year old PUGGLE - that's a mix of beagle and pug.

Joy is named for her attitude - JOYFUL .. and she loves to lift her voice when she's happy to give you a little serenade .... maybe start a live stream and make Joy Insta-Famous!

Next up is Duke - a gorgeous terrier / pitbull mix.

Duke is a young pup - who still is a little excitable - so he will need some training and would be best suited for a home with no kitties or kiddies.

If you are interested in adopting Duke or Joy -  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Phase I of Maryland's Roadmap to Recovery has been initiated and with that - the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is now able to have animal viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in meeting this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please reach out!

Up first - Lila -  a 2 year old Terrier / Pitbull mix

Lila is a little shy .. but after some TLC from the staff at the SPCA of Anne Arundel County - she's learning the world is a safe and happy place... especially when you give her some string cheese and meaty treats :)

Lila is young - but probably would adapt best to a home where she is the only dog and no small children.

Next up is another sweet girl - Ellie - an 8 year old Bloodhound.

...Sometimes she gets so excited about it - she even sings about it  ... her personal faves seem to be Hound Dog, Hounds of Love, and I Wanna Be Your Dog ;)

She also loves giving big ol' slobbery smooches with that tongue :)

If you are interested in adopting Lila or Ellie -  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Malachi (American Pit Bull) & Simba Boy (Short Coat Chihuahua)

Phase I of Maryland's Road to Recovery has been initiated and with that - the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is now able to have animal viewings and adoptions BUT by appointment only.  So if you are interested in meeting this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week (or one of the other 600 animals the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is housing)  - please reach out!

Our first pup, Malachi, is a true road dog ... just look at this guy!

Malachi's a 6 year old American Pitbull / Terrier mix who we think is quite debonair ...  and so does he ;)

As you can tell - Malachi loves a good road trip - as well as playing with his toys and hiding in blankets

Up next is Simba Boy - who is the total Chihuahua - he is smart, playful, talkative, and full of hugs and kisses.

Simba Boy also is good with cats and dogs - but not so much children.

If you are interested in adopting Simba Boy or Malachi  -  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Mika (Siberian Husky) & Comet (Short Coat Chihuahua)

Despite the Governor's announcment of Phase I of Maryland's Road to Reocovery -  the SPCA of Anne Arundel County is still CLOSED to the public. But you can still submit an application to adopt one of the 600 animals ... like the hypnotically beauty  - Mika

Seriously - just look into those big beautiful blue eyes on 6 year old Mika .... You know they say that blue eyes are the accompanied by a calm and peaceful personality .. and that's pretty much Mika  .. unless she's eating - don't get in the way of a girl who's hungry :)

Oh - did we mention Mika the Siberian Husky has a beautiful singing voice?  Who knows - if you teach her to sing Elton John's Blue Eyes and take her on America's Got Talent !

Up next is Comet - a small but mighty Chihuahua - who'd love nothing more than to jump into your arms every day (Seriously - he's got some ups!)

Comet also knows some tricks of this own - so you should really consider adopting him with Mika and take them both on AGT

If you are interested in adopting Comet and/or Mika  -  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

And will have their next Vaccine Clinic on May 16 - offering rabies,  (1 and 3 year), Canine Distemper Vaccine (DAPP), Canine Leptospirosis Vaccine, Feline Distemper Vaccine (FVRCP)
and Canine Bordetella!

You can click HERE call 410-268-4388 for information.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Rush (Black Mouth Cur) & Maxxi (Retriever/Lab Mix)

Due to new restrictions placed by the State of Maryland, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County  is CURRENTLY CLOSED to the public.  But that doesn't mean you need to take matters into your own hands to adopt an animal !!!

Just last week - someone broke into the SPCA of Anne Arundel County and PUP -NAPPED Maxxi ... while allowing multiple other animals to get out of their kennels.  Thanks to all of YOU - Maxxi was found and is back at the the SPCA of Anne Arundel County - waiting for a PROPER adoption

More on Maxxi - our celebrity pup ... she's only one year old and a retriever / lab mix.  Maxxi's tall and leggy - like a model.  She loves playing with toys,  meeting new people, & giving higs and kisses, - but due to her size and age - her rambunctious play style - she may not be suitable for a home with young children.

Maxxi is new to Annapolis - and we hear she is really looking forward to experiencing her first summer here - full of crab feasts, swims in the bay, and exporing 'Naptown on long walks.

Our second adoptable pup of the week is Rush - a six year old Black Mouth Cur.

Rush is a big boy who also loves to go on long walks.  He's kind of a social butterfly who likes to meet everyone he comes across on these walks.  He escpcially loves hiking in the woods and doesn't mind getting his paws a little dirty

If you are interested in adopting Maxxi or Rush -  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.  PLEASE We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County continues to offer emergency services (including Animal Surrender, Euthanasia, and Cremation) by appointment only.

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Chop (Terrier / American Pit Bull / Retriever, Labrador)

Due to new restrictions placed by the State of Maryland, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County  is CURRENTLY CLOSED to the public.  But that doesn't mean they have stopped their mission of  caring and finding  homes for the 600 animals they are currently sheltering ... like this super cool pup - Chop

Chop is full of energy and loves to play, but he's a very good listener. He does well with other big playful dogs who can match his enthusiasm. Chop loves attention and enjoys a good walk.

He can offer help around the house with yard work, since his all time favorite thing to do is collect sticks. He looks for the biggest one he can carry and will walk it around so proudly.

If you are interested in adopting Chop-  please call (410-268-4388 ) or email adoptions@aacspca.org for info.   We ask you be patient ... operations at the shelter are moving a little slower than normal right now.

So maybe you aren't in a position to take home a pup now - you can still help out the SPCA of Anne Arundel County -

**The shelter is in need of canned food (cat and dog) and dry dog food**

You can find the brands of food they need HERE and drop it off at the shelter or you can purchase it from Amazon and have it delivered to the shelter.

You can get to the wish list through smile.amazon.com or amazon.com by doing the following steps:

  1. After logging into smile.amazon.com look to the right side of the screen for “Wish List”
  2. Click on the down arrow and select “Find a Wish List or Registry”
  3. Type in “SPCA of Anne Arundel County”

Or you can help by making a cash donation HERE ... OR ... how adding a little class to you home or office - with a Royal Pet Portrait.

We all think of our pets as the king or queen of our hearts. And sometimes, they definitely act like royalty! Well, here’s your chance to have them also look like royalty!

For a $20 donation, you can receive a digital rendering of your pet in one of these adorable yet regal outfits!  And you can even add on a print of the portrait for an additional fee.  All while helping keep the SPCA of Anne Arundel County running as a non kill animal shelter

Canines & Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week - Nena & Bianca (Maltese) & Anna (Mastiff Mix)

Due to new restrictions placed by the State of Maryland, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County  is CURRENTLY CLOSED to the public.  But that doesn't mean they have stopped their mission of  caring and finding  homes for the 600 animals they are currently sheltering ... like Nena, Bianca, and Anna - who they just recently pulled from a high kill shelter

Our first pup is Anna - a 3 year old Mastiff mix - a princess with beautiful, shiny brindle coat.

Anna loves to explore - and would make an excellent hiking and walking buddy.  She also loves to snuggle and get a little doggy massage in - including some belly-n-back rubs - when her work out is done ... we told you she's a princess ;)

Next up - we have a bonded pair of Maltese sisters - Bianca and Nena.   They have a very special relationship and are just simply the sweetest.

These two cuties love to snuggle up together or to be in your lap. Bianca and Nena enjoy their naps but also love taking walks and sun bathing.  Just imagine - this could be you leaving the  SPCA of Anne Arundel County with these two < 3

Canines & Crosstreks - Adoptable Pets of the Week - Jake & Frodo (Bonded Pair)

For 100 years, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County has been helping find homes for adoptable pets in Anne Arundel County and they cannot let the ever evolving COVID-19 situation derail their mission.  Especially when they are still having pets surrendered to them - like this week's Canines and Crosstreks Adoptable Pets of the Week sponsored by Annapolis Subaru

Jake and Frodo are a bonded pair of pals who are both about 2 years old and need a home other than  SPCA of Anne Arundel County

Jake is the boxer and Frodo is the poodle in the pictures.  They are a friendly pair of pooches who would make great companions for your family. Frodo is more outgoing and Jake is his right hand man, so they're ready to make their way into your heart!

While the SPCA is closed to the public - they are still setting up appointments for adoptions.  Please visit www.aacspca.org to learn about our Adoption Process as well as receive updates on their shelter status & policies.

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County is in need of your help now more than ever.  Most of their funding comes from their events - which have all been cancelled or postponed until TFN. If you can help in any way ... donations can still be made at their facility (donations should be dropped off in our designated area outside of the shelter building) and you can get info on how to make financial donations online or via mail HERE

The SPCA of Anne Arundel County would like to thank all of their volunteers, donators, and partners - like  Annapolis Subaru - who continue to support their mission in finding homes for all the adoptable pets of Anne Arundel County
