A new pup is a great way to start a new year ...
...and here's a trio of dogs for the SPCA of Anne Arundel County's Canines and Crosstrek Adoptable Pet Report sponsored Annapolis Subaru that could help kick off your 2021 on the right foot!
Up first - Chase - a 2 year old short hair Chihuahua mix
Chase was brought into the SPCA of Anne Arundel County because his previous owner was moving. He'd love to move in with a family of sports fans because besides going on walks around the neighborhood - he loves watching First Take on ESPN.
Next up - we have Garrabito Roger - a 6 year old hound mix
Boiling this pup down to two words is helpful when learning to understand Garrabito Roger. Hunting. Dog. GB embodies pretty much every characteristic of a textbook hunting dog. Adventurous, hard-working, and trusting --- with a couple dashes of goofiness --- is a good way to begin unpacking this sophisticated yet simple (and special) pooch.
Roger is a smart guy with an amazingly sensitive nose. Of course, this is popular amongst hunting breeds, but what makes Roger different is his work ethic --- Roger LOVES to earn his kudos! Responsive to verbal praise, Roger's spirit gently lights up when he's caught doing something right. This is an important component for Roger's future --- his need to work and earn. If not given a regular "job", Roger is likely at risk of making one up on his own, which often backfires. He is also a confident, healthy guy who, while somewhat dominant in his personality, doesn't need a lot to gain his loyalty to follow you yet needs a strong leader.
Garrabito Roger will thrive in a home who wants to genuinely "rescue" him --- take him under his wing, learn his nuances and needs, and commit to helping him unfold in the wake of a confusing context. Because of his understandable prey drive, Roger needs a home with no cats or small animals in the home. An interest in nurturing his "nose skill" is highly encouraged. A second dog is possible and will be considered case-by-case after a dog introduction. Adult only house (no apratments or condos ) with no kids.
Next up - we have Grumpy - a 4 month old Pit Bull
Grumpy is a serious cutie - look at that face and try not not fall in love
