The late Hal Willner was known for putting together all kinds of special music projects ... and as one of his last projects before he passed was AngelHeaded Hipster: The So , which will come out September 4 via BMG (pre-order here).

The 26 song Marc Bolan/T. Rex tribute album features covers by U2 (ft. Elton John), Nick Cave, Joan Jett, Father John Misty, Lucinda Williams, Perry Farrell, Todd Rundgen, Kesha, Sean Lennon + Charlotte Kemph Muhl, Julian Lennon + Victoria Williams, and more.

So far we have heard two tracks from the record - Nick Cave's cover of "Cosmic Dancer" and most recently Joan Jett's rendition of Jeepster with Marc Ribot on guitar, Jim White on drums, and Thomas Bartlett on piano and arrangements. Hear both tracks below
