Gov. Larry Hogan ordered the shutdown of all bars, restaurants, movie theaters and gyms in Maryland to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic

Effective at 5 p.m on Monday March 16, 2020, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan ordered the shutdown of all bars, restaurants, movie theaters and gyms in Maryland in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. 

 

Grocery stores and pharmacies will also remain open.  Carry-out and food delivery service will still be available

 

He said in his press conference (which you can view below):

 “We’re being more aggressive, I think, than some people... (but) By these actions, we’re going to stop the spread and we’re going to save lives.”

 

The announcement comes one day after the governor ordered the indefinite closing of all  casinos, racetracks and off-track betting parlors. 

 

 

 

As of Monday (3/16/20) the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Maryland was 37.
