On New Year's Eve - the New York City rock revivalists and indie darlings of the 2000's The Strokes -returned to the stage - playing a sold out show at Manhattan's crown jewel - Madison Square Garden.
During the show - the band debuted a new song - Ode to the Mets - and frontman Julian Casablancas declared:
“Yeah, we’ve got a new album coming out soon! 2020, here we come. The 2010s, whatever the fuck they’re called, we took ‘em off. And now we’ve been unfrozen and we’re back!”
This week the band seems to be inching closer to releasing a new album called The New Abnormal.
Teaser videos appeared on both band's twitter and guitarist Albert Hammond Jr.'s Instagram accounts showing artwork by American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Hammond commented:
“You think you’ve been waiting?. But the wait has just begun...Welcome to the new abnormal"
The band has a bunch of tour dates lined up - but only festivals lined up ... and if the track Ode to the Mets is from the album - here it is
