10-years ago today, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Haiti demolishing buildings and infrastructure, displacing 2,000,000 people, and taking over 250,000 lives -- changing the nation forever. From this crisis, J/P HRO was born. As we reflect on the past decade, it is the Haiti that we know and love that we remember. It is our hundreds of Haitian staff, who worked and continue to work tirelessly every day to support their communities and neighbors, who provided medical care to infants and children, and who have given the most vulnerable Haitian youth a genuine opportunity to succeed. Today, J/P HRO is CORE, and although our mission has expanded beyond Haiti, to work with communities impacted by disaster throughout the Carribean, including Puerto Rico, across the US gulf coast, and most recently, the Bahamas; our heart remains with Haiti.

And on Wednesday, January 15th - CORE, Sean Penn's Haiti relief non profit will host their annual gala in LA. Keeping in tradition - the event will be star studded with Beck, Jenny Lewis, Dwight Yoakam and Henning May performing with Portugal. The Man serving as the house band.
Former 4 Non Blond Linda Perry - who curated the event - explained to Billboard:
“Portugal. The Man is actually gonna be the house band. They’re gonna come out with this artist from Germany named Henning May; he is amazing. They’ll do a couple of their songs, then Jenny Lewis will join them, then Dwight Yoakam, and at the end it’ll be Beck, Dwight Yoakam, Jenny Lewis and Portugal. The Man closing out the evening.”
