While much of the non country music world was shocked that Nine Inch Nail Trent Reznor took home a Country Music Award (he had a production credit on “Old Town Road”), it was Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson who stole the show with a very special performance.
The old and new guard of country music joined forces for a cover of The Muppets classic “Rainbow Connection”.
Both Nelson and Musgraves have connections to the track - Nelson covered the song on his 2001 album of the same name. And as Good Morning America points out with this adorable throwback video- Musgraves has been covering the track since she was just nine years old.
