“Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in” -Michael Corleone
I officially retired in May of 2025… but when WRNR called, I put down my Manhattan, grabbed my headphones, and here I am. This return marks my sixth on-air incarnation at WRNR. I first joined the station back in the mid 2010s as a part-time weekend personality. About six months later, I moved to weeknights — then mornings, middays, and afternoons. And that doesn’t even include the behind-the-scenes work I did for a few years.
Radio is still in my blood, but I wouldn’t come out of retirement for just any station. I’ve always loved the music on WRNR, and the fact that it’s my hometown station — run by locals who truly understand our audience — made the decision a no-brainer.
My radio journey started with a set of Tinker Toys I turned into a “microphone.” That childhood fantasy became real when my high school built an actual radio station. From there, it was off to York College of Pennsylvania, followed by real, paying gigs in York, Harrisburg, and Lancaster, PA. Then came stops in Atlantic City, NJ… Pensacola, FL… Augusta, GA… and finally Baltimore beginning in 1995. I never imagined I’d stay in one area for 30 years, but I hit that milestone in March 2025 at the station that first brought me here.
From being “Mark” (real name Mike) on the Kirk, Mark and Lopez show at 98 Rock, to surviving CBS Radio’s unfortunate WHFS-to-FM-Talk experiment at 105.7, to 100.7 The Bay, and then to WRNR in 2015 — you could say I’ve seen and heard it all. But I know I haven’t. With 93.5 WRNR back in the picture, we’re going to keep surprising you… and even me.
How? By playing the best new adult-alternative music and the classic tracks no one else would dare touch — the ones that never make it onto those tightly controlled playlists generated by AI in some office in San Antonio or New York. And we’ll keep you connected to everything happening from the Bay Bridge to 495 and beyond at WRNR.com. Plus, keep an eye out for all the music events coming your way.
This is just the beginning of another great journey on the new 93.5 WRNR. The trip leaves the dock in Annapolis every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. — and trust me, there will be surprises.
