Caritas Society of St. Johns College is putting on an awesome fundraising event entitled a “Movie and An Author,” and features the 1963 academy award winning movie Chagall, voiced by Vincent Price and a presentation and book signing by Stanley Meisler, author of Shocking Paris, Soutine, Chagall and the Outsiders of Montparnasse.  It will be held in conjunction with the companion Mitchell Gallery exhibition Chagall: The Early Etchings. 
 
Doors open at 2 p.m. and a wine reception and raffle for wine and tickets to area cultural events will follow the presentations.  Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

November 13-  5:00 PM   Indian Creek’s Upper School is hosting a special event called the “Party at Gatsby’s”
 
Be sure to wear your best 1920's attire. Enjoy 20's appropriate hors d’oeuvres, a live jazz trio, a visit from the cast in character, a toast by Gatsby himself, dance lessons, dancing, and more - all on the Upper School stage! Following the party, stay to enjoy the cast’s final dress rehearsal before the real performances begin the next day. All ages welcome. Ticket price $75, limited to 50 participants.

 

In addition, the productions of “The Great Gatsby”  will take place on Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the Jack and Nancy Becker Center for the Performing Arts at the Indian Creek Up

THE Y IN CENTRAL MARYLAND TO HOST ANNUAL TURKEY TROT CHARITY 5K
Put more “thanks” and “giving” into Thanksgiving by supporting struggling families in the community
 
(Baltimore, MD)— Join thousands of individuals as they trot in support of local children and families at The Y in Central Maryland’s annual Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K, a Thanksgiving Day tradition that raises critically-needed funds to support kids whose families live in poverty throughout Central Maryland. On Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26, 2015, the Y will host its Turkey Trot Charity 5K in Arnold, Baltimore City, Bel Air, Ellicott City, Towson and Westminster.
 
Each Y Turkey Trot will feature a 5K Run/Walk, and prizes will be awarded in each age group. All participants will receive an official race t-shirt. Proceeds benefit children whose families can’t afford educational and enrichment opportunities, such as Y Preschool and Camp. Evergreen Health is the Title Sponsor.
 
NEW this year – children 7 and under register for FREE. Youth ages 8-17 register for half price!

Handmade from the Heart: An Art and Fine Craft Exhibition    
Evergreen, A Center for Balanced Living in Easton
 
At the 15th annual Handmade Festival you will have the opportunity to visit Evergreen’s beautiful wellness center while shopping for unique works of art and crafts, including jewelry, scarves, soaps and creams, pottery, mosaics, wooden toys, wood turnings, sculpture, basketry, and seasonal greenery.  A blacksmith will be onsite demonstrating his craft. All featured artisans live in the area and will be on hand to share information about their work. Shopping locally supports our neighbor artists and craftspeople and strengthens our community.
